Ramadan 2023: Very significant for Muslims all over the world, do you know exactly when this strict rule was introduced?

The month of Ramadan is going to start from tomorrow. The importance of this month associated with the Muslim community is special. This month is a very holy time for Muslims scattered all over the world. During this time fasting is kept for a continuous month. Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset for a month. After fasting all day, they observe Iftar after sunset and Shehri before sunrise.

The Islamic calendar is calculated based on the different phases of the moon. That is how the month of Ramadan begins. The word Ramadan is derived from ‘ramida’, meaning intense heat. In the scorching heat of summer, fasting without water is considered as moderation by the followers of Islam. Therefore, this month of Ramadan is considered as a test of self-discipline and self-control, which they believe helps to increase taqwa, i.e. good consciousness. All adult Muslims except seriously ill, elderly, pregnant women are required to fast during the month of Ramadan.

Ever since the sighting of the moon in Mecca, Muslims have been searching for the moon all over the world. The month of Ramadan begins after the sighting of the moon. This year, the moon was supposed to be seen last night, although that hope did not materialize. It is expected that in India and Saudi Arabia, the observance of Ramadan will begin after the sighting of the moon today. This month of Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Fasting during the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. The month itself is considered the most important time in Islamic culture. It is believed that during this period, believers abstain from eating, drinking, smoking, harboring evil thoughts and engaging in evil deeds.

What is the significance of the month of Ramadan?

This month is very significant for Muslims all over the world. It is believed that the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad in the holy month of Ramadan. This period is therefore considered a month of self-reflection, improvement and true devotion to Allah. Muslims all over the world observe Ramadan during this time by fasting, praying as well as giving to the needy. Ramadan begins all over the world with the sighting of the moon in Mecca. This year, India’s initial hope was that Ramadan would begin on Wednesday, March 22, though that hope has been dashed. It is expected to start this afternoon, and continue till April 21. Then on April 22, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday.
