Lawyer CR Jaya Sukin said in the petition that the statement issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat on May 18 and the list of invitees of the General Secretary of the Lok Sabha on the occasion of the inauguration of the new parliament building violates the Constitution. The two houses of Parliament and the President of India are the supreme powers of the legislature. The Constitution has given the responsibility of calling and pending the Parliament to the President. Referring to Article 79 of the Constitution, the petition further claimed that the President is an integral part of the Parliament. Therefore, he cannot be kept away from the inauguration ceremony. According to the petitioner, this is indicative of the misconduct of the Lok Sabha Secretariat. For that reason, a request has been made to the Supreme Court to issue an order to the President to inaugurate the new building.
