Shakib Al Hasan is moving forward with cricket and controversy. Just as he handled the cricket very well, he also handled the off-field controversies in his own style. Cricket has given him his hands full. This time another achievement has been added to Shakib’s flock. Shakib received his graduation certificate at the 21st convocation of American International University Bangladesh (AIUB) on Sunday (March 19).
Shakib was a student of Human Resources department of Faculty of Business Education of the private university. Minister of Education gave the certificate to him. Deepu Moni.
In the convocation speech, Shakib said, ‘Today another dream of mine has been fulfilled. I have achieved a lot in cricket. But getting the highest level certificate in studies was my dream for a long time. When I started here in 2009, I had been in the national team for three years. Even then, when I called, my mother would first inquire about my studies. I would like to thank AIUB and all my course teachers for always supporting me. It feels like the time I got my first Test cap.’
Shakib said to the present students, ‘I feel good to see everyone. Not much to say. All I can say is, when you dream, dream big. Work with integrity. We will take Bangladesh forward together.’
In a black-green gown, a black cap on his head, a certificate tied in his hand, for a moment Shakib has become the obedient and successful student that all mothers want. Seeing the excitement in Shakib’s eyes, it seems that he has finally achieved the impossible.
