Mumbai survived in the final fight by blowing away Lucknow

In order to survive in the race for the final, Mumbai Indians, the maximum five-time champion in the IPL, had to win. Playing in such an equation, Rohit Sharma’s team could not make a big collection by batting first. In this year’s IPL, where two hundred innings are often seen, Mumbai scored 182 runs in Bachamara’s match. Mumbai’s two out-of-form openers Rohit Sharma (11) and Ishan Kishan (15) returned to bat within 35 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium yesterday. Then Cameron Green and Suryakumar Yadav form a formidable pair. The two scored 66 runs off just 38 balls for the third wicket.

Neither of the two, however, got a fifty. Green returned with 41 runs off 23 balls with 6 fours and 1 six. Suryakumar returned with 30 runs off 20 balls hitting 2 fours and sixes. In the end, Nehal Wadhera played a cameo innings of 23 runs off 12 balls. Tilak Verma scored 26 runs off 22 balls.

Afghan pacer Navin-ul Haque took four wickets for 38 runs for Lucknow. Yash Thakur took three wickets for 34 runs.

After bowling, Mumbai managed to push the opponent in the beginning. The five-time champions picked up two wickets within 23 runs. Later, Akash Madhwal destroyed Lucknow with medium pace in the middle and last overs. He took 5 wickets at the cost of 5 runs in 3.3 overs.

Lucknow was bowled out for 101 runs in 16.3 overs by the devastating bowling of the infamous Akash. Marcus Stoinis scored 40 off 27 balls for the team.
