Local bodies cornered by Amul’s entry into Tamil Nadu, Stalin seeks Shahi intervention in milk dispute

News Daily Digital Desk: Amul controversy in another southern state. Recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’s cooperative group Amul has started collecting milk from different areas of Tamil Nadu. As a result, milk marketing companies in the state are cornered. This complaint was raised by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu MK Stalin. He asked Amit Shah to take immediate action in this regard.

Stalin alleged that Amul was taking advantage of the ‘Multi-State Cooperative Licence’ granted by the Centre. They have also set up a ‘chilling centre’ and a ‘milk processing centre’ in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu. As a result, local milk producers, dairy product manufacturers and cooperatives are suffering. Addressing Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Stalin said, “Issuing orders immediately so that Amul cannot procure milk from southern states including Tamil Nadu.” He further alleged that the Gujarat organization is violating the principle of area-based milk procurement. As a result, an environment of unhealthy competition is being created in the state. The loss is to local companies.

It may be noted that the name of the highest cooperative marketing organization in Tamil Nadu is ‘Avin’. There are 9,673 milk producer cooperative societies in rural areas under Avin Cooperatives. Where 4 lakh 50 thousand people are connected. Stalin claimed that Avin and its 450,000 members are facing problems due to Amul. He also said that until now Amul Cable was selling dairy products produced by the company in Tamil Nadu. This time it has started collecting milk from the state. Which will not be accepted in any way.

Incidentally, earlier, the neighboring state of Karnataka also had a heated debate. The subject is the same. In an advertisement, Amul said, ‘Coming to Bengaluru soon’. Since then the dairy companies of that state are in panic. Several political parties, including the Congress, have alleged that the BJP is giving business opportunities to Modi-Shah’s state organizations by putting local organizations at a disadvantage.
