North Indian states are the most enthusiastic in celebrating this festival. Holi and Dol festival are also celebrated in Sambar in West Bengal. And as a result, there is some impact on public transport.
Indian Railways is considered as the backbone of public transport. In terms of impact on public transport, rail services can also have a major impact. Like every year, many trains have been canceled by Indian Railways before Holi this year. Around 400 express trains have been canceled in Eastern Zone alone.
The trains which have been canceled mainly travel over West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. Also several such trains plying over Punjab and Delhi have been added to the cancellation list. The timings of some trains have also been changed.
The canceled trains include Barauni to New Delhi, Howrah to Jabalpur Express, Lucknow to Patliputra, Anand Vihar to Gorakhpur Humsafar Express, Hatia to Anand Vihar Jharkhand Express, Gorakhpur to Chapra Special Express, Chandigarh to Amritsar. Numerous trains including Super Fast Express, Kumbh Express from Howrah to Dehradun, Mahabodhi Express from Delhi to Gaya.
In view of the cancellation of all these trains, a notification has already been issued by the Indian Railways and in that notification, 354 trains will be completely canceled on the occasion of Holi, 53 trains will be partially canceled and 49 trains will be rerouted.
