India wants written assurance from Pakistan

Sports Desk: India agrees to play in the hybrid model proposed by the country on one condition if the Asia Cup is held in Pakistan. In that case, BCCI wants a written confirmation that Pakistan will play in the ODI World Cup at the end of the year on Indian soil.

Media reports, ‘Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is getting support from other countries to host the Asia Cup, BCCI is also showing interest in playing in the hybrid model. However, BCCI has added a new condition. They want Pakistan to give a written assurance to India to play the ODI World Cup in October 2023.’

BCCI wants to formally accept this proposal at the general meeting in Ahmedabad on May 27.

India is not willing to go to Pakistan to play the Asia Cup, they have offered to play their matches at neutral venues. This is called a hybrid model. Pakistan is also not willing to organize outside their own events. But due to India’s adamant position, the PCB agreed to the hybrid model proposal. Chairman of the organization Najam Shetty told the media, if India does not play the Asia Cup, the chances of Pakistan going to the upcoming World Cup are very slim.
