Correspondent, Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan got a big relief in the Tosakhana case. Islamabad District Court Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal canceled the non-bailable arrest warrant issued against him after appearing in court on Saturday. The next hearing of the case is on March 30. On that day, the judge ordered the former prime minister to appear in court again.

The country’s national intelligence agency, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), had filed a case against the PTI chairman for selling gifts received from abroad as the head of state while he was the prime minister. In view of that case, Imran’s MP post was revoked as well as his right to contest elections for five years. Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal of Islamabad District Court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the former prime minister for the first time on February 28 for not appearing in that case. Later on March 13, a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued for the second time.

Islamabad police raided Lahore’s Zaman Park house on March 5 and 14 to enforce the order. However, the police had to return empty-handed in the face of strong resistance from PTI supporters. Imran approached the Lahore and Islamabad High Courts requesting the dismissal of the arrest warrant. The two High Courts issued a stay on the former prime minister’s arrest till Saturday. Besides, the PTI chairman was ordered to appear in the lower court. Following that order, the former prime minister appeared in the Islamabad district court. However, he got stuck at the gate of the judicial complex. PTI activists and supporters clashed with the Islamabad police after entering inside. In the end, Imran appeared in the court sitting in the car. And after that appearance, Judge Zafar Iqbal canceled the arrest warrant issued against the former prime minister. .
