Around the next Khulna City Corporation (KCC) election on June 12, allotment of symbols started from 9:30 am on Friday among the candidates. First the symbols are given among the mayoral candidates. Election officials did not have to gain momentum at all as all four represented the designated party in this position.

Apart from this, Jatiya Party candidate Shafiqul Islam Madhu took the plow symbol, Maulana Abdul Awal of Islamic Movement took the hand fan symbol and Zaker Party mayoral candidate SM Sabbir Hossain took the flower symbol. After receiving the symbol, Talukdar Abdul Khalek started campaigning.
The officials opened the meeting room of the city’s Noornagar Returning Officer’s office sometime before 9:30 AM. At 9:40, Guti arrived at the returning officer’s office with some party leaders and took the boat symbol at the returning officer’s office.
Besides, after receiving the symbol, he along with the party leaders and workers first participated in the funeral of a brave freedom fighter in Ward No. 4 of the city. After that he officially started mass communication in Newmarket Kacha Bazar area of Ward No. 17.
Talukdar Abdul Khalek said, “I do not look down on anyone who is participating in the election as a mayoral candidate in the election field.” I think the people of the city will vote for me again, remembering the phenomenal development that I have done for the people of the city in the past. If I am re-elected as the mayor, I want to finish my unfinished work and make Khulna a KT Tilottama city.
Earlier, after the withdrawal of nomination papers yesterday on May 25, the returning officer’s office has finalized that 179 candidates including four mayoral candidates, 136 general ward council candidates and 39 reserved ward councilor candidates will be in the election field.
