Somnath Roy, New Delhi: The picture of the farmer’s rally three years ago is going to return to the heart of the capital? Huge farmers’ rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on Monday. Before that lakhs of farmers from different states, Union Territories are heading to Delhi. Their demand is at least seven points. The main organizer of the rally on Sunday, the Sanktok Kisan Morcha, made the claim in a press release. After three years, the gathering of so many farmers in the capital can stir the national politics again, according to informed circles.
The farmers’ organizations are once again on the path of mass movement against the intervention of capitalists in the agricultural sector. At the forefront of which is the United Kisan Morcha (SKM). They are calling Monday’s rally ‘Kisam Mahapanchayet’. Kisan Morcha claims that it will be so big in terms of importance if not in Kolebar. His preparations have started in Delhi since Sunday morning. The main objective is to oppose several decisions of the Center regarding agriculture. Among their seven-point demands, those are the dominant ones. There is a demand for setting up a new committee on Minimum Support Price (MSP), waiving farmers’ loans and taking appropriate action in several areas. As promised by the Centre, farmers should be given a pension of Rs 5,000 per month immediately.

However, the demand that is getting stronger is the Lakhimpur-Kheri issue. There 8 people died due to driving in the midst of farmers movement. Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra’s name has emerged as an accused in the incident. He was arrested but later released on bail. Farmers’ anger about it is long-standing. From this year’s Mahapanchayat, they will demand the removal of Ajay Mishra from the ministry. Besides, he will also be demanded to be jailed. Besides, there will be demand for withdrawal of false cases against farmers in BJP-ruled states. All in all, the voice of the farmers will be heard more from the Kisan Mahapanchayat of the capital.
