Captain Shaheen Afridi’s record in PSL


Sports Desk :: Shaheen Shah Afridi has set a record as the captain in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He has set the precedent of winning the PSL title as the first captain in two consecutive seasons.

Shaheen Afridi’s bat-and-ball prowess helped Lahore Qalandars win a thrilling final against Multan Sultans at their home ground in Lahore on Saturday.

In an important match like the final, Shaheen Afridi went on a rampage at the end of the innings. Played a stormy innings of 44 runs in 15 balls with the help of two fours and 5 sixes. Due to his impeccable batting, Lahore lost 6 wickets and scored 200 runs.

Abdullah Shafiq scored 65 runs off 40 balls with 8 fours and two sixes for the team. Two openers Fakhar Zaman and Miraz Baig scored 39 runs from 34 balls and 30 runs from 18 balls.

Chasing the target, Multan scored 105 runs in 10.3 overs. After losing 6 wickets in the gap of 61 runs, Khushdil Shah and Abdas Afridi kept the team’s dream of winning.

4 runs were needed from the last ball to win. When Khushdil completed 2 runs and got run out by Zaman Khan, Lahore Qalandars cheered for victory. Lahore led by Shaheen Shah Afridi secured the title by just 1 run in a breathtaking match.

This pacer has won the title in two consecutive seasons as the only captain in PSL. Lahore became the champion by defeating Multan in last year’s final as well.

Afridi led Lahore to the title in 2022. And under the leadership of Rizwan, Multan lost two consecutive finals. Before that, however, Rizwan’s Multan became the champion in 2021.

Batting at number seven, Shaheen Afridi was the man of the match in the final after hitting 5 sixes and 2 fours in 15 balls for 44 runs unbeaten and 4 wickets for 51 runs in 4 overs.
