BSF | Gold worth 2 crore recovered from India-Bangladesh border
Kolkata: BSF jawans arrested the smuggler with the truck before smuggling. The incident took place on the India-Bangladesh border on Friday. The border guards arrested the smuggler with 36 gold biscuits worth Rs 2.93 crore.
ICP Petrapole of Bangaon in North 24 Parganas district, 145 Battalion Border Security Force jawans of South Bengal border had already received information about this illegal smuggling. The border guards of India and Bangladesh were prepared like that. After that, based on that specific information, the border guards arrested the truck on reaching the India-Bangladesh international border. The truck driver was also arrested. The weight of gold seized from that truck is 4,797.178 grams and the estimated value of which is Rs.2,93,10,758/-.

The jawans on duty received specific information that a truck driver was about to enter the Indian border from Bangladesh with an empty truck. Immediately, the soldiers formed a search party. After entering the Indian side, the jawans stopped the said truck and took it to the warehouse for search. When the jawans conducted a thorough search of the truck, they recovered 36 gold biscuits wrapped in a cloth behind the speaker box in the cabin of the truck. The jawans then brought the smugglers along with the truck and gold to the border post. The arrested trafficker is Pradip Roy Chowdhury, village Talikhola (Matiganj), district North 24 Parganas. The smuggled and seized gold has been handed over to P&I Branch, Custom House, Kolkata for further legal action.
