Sports Desk: In the first ODI of the series against Ireland, Bangladesh built a mountain of runs with the great batting of the batsmen. Bangladesh scored 338 runs at the end of the scheduled 50 overs with the bats of Touhid Hriday, Shakib and Mushfiqur beating the Irish bowlers. Shakib scored the maximum 93 runs for the Tigers. This is Bangladesh’s highest score in ODIs. Bangladesh’s highest score so far was 333 against Australia in Nottingham in 2019 World Cup.
Graham Hume took four wickets for Ireland.
On Saturday (March 18) after losing the toss, Bangladesh lost the captain Tamim by 15 runs. Tiger skipper scored only 3 runs off 9 balls. He wanted to drive Mark Eder off the third ball of the third over of the innings. But the ball hit the edge of his bat and went straight into the hands of Paul Sterling at slip.
Liton tries to turn around with Shanto after Tamim’s departure. But he could not go far. Ireland made a bowling change as Shanta-Lytton settled into the wicket. And it works. Lytton was dismissed for 26 after taking a catch at short cover off Irish medium pacer Curtis Campher.
Like Liton, Nazmul Hossain Shanto is back. The left-handed batsman was bowled by Irish spinner Andy McBrien in the 17th over of the innings. He managed to score 25 runs off 34 balls, only 1 boundary.
